SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing Special Interest Group (SIG)
DESCRIPTION:Join the next online Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing Special Interest Group\, in partnership with The University of Nottingham – Centre for Additive Manufacturing. \nConfirmed presentation topics: \n– Medical Product Design for Additive Manufacturing\n– How to protect Intellectual Property in Additive Manufacturing innovations\n– Additive Manufacturing of Medical Devices \nDURATION: 1 hour \nThis free to attend event is held as part of the INSTILS programme – a project part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund\, click here to be re-directed to further information about the project. This event is classed as State Aid to participating businesses\, the value of which is £127\, but is delivered completely free of charge to participants. \nPlease note: whilst this event is held as part of the INSTILS programme\, attendance is not restricted to companies in the D2N2 area and is open to all. \nSpeaker Profiles: \n\nChaired by: Ruth Goodridge\, Professor in Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)\, The University of Nottingham \nRuth is Professor of Additive Manufacturing (3D-Printing) at the University of Nottingham. She is currently on secondment to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust\, based in Clinical Engineering. With a degree in Biomaterials and PhD in Bioengineering\, she has a particular interest in the medical applications of Additive Manufacturing\, including assistive and rehabilitation devices (inc. prosthetics)\, implants and diagnostics. She has 20 years experience in multidisciplinary research into Additive Manufacturing\, including a 2-year JSPS fellowship held at NAIST\, Japan. Her expertise lies in material development for AM and advancing understanding of coupled material-processing aspects\, in particular for polymer and glass powder bed fusion. \n\nProfessor Richard Bibb\, Professor of Medical Applications of Design\, School of Design & Creative Arts – Loughborough University\nRichard is Professor of Medical Applications of Design in the School of Design & Creative Arts\, Loughborough University. He has more than 20 years’ experience in research exploring the application of Additive Manufacturing and advanced design technologies in surgery\, prosthetics\, orthotics and medical devices. He founded the Medical Applications Group at PDR in 1998 and led it for 10 years. He moved to Loughborough University in 2008 and founded the Digital Design & Fabrication research group in 2014. \n \nGareth Probert\, Partner\, UK and European Patent Attorney\, EIP\nGareth is a partner at the patent firm EIP and heads the EIP HealthTech practice group\, an interdisciplinary team specialising in protecting innovations in the medtech and healthcare sectors.
