SUMMARY:WEBINAR: The Future of Data and AI in Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:                                                        \n  \n  \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThis webinar; “The Future of Data and AI in Healthcare” is in partnership with The Open University Faculty of Wellbeing\, Education and Language Studies. \nPart of the webinar will include presentations from academics at the Open University and they will discuss their work in the fields of Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its relevance to the medical field. Discussion will include the ways in which Artificial Intelligence can enhance the use of data as well as innovative uses of AI and data for patient interactions and training.  Mills and Reeve will also present at the webinar on ‘Legal issues around AI enabled technologies’. \nThis free-to-attend event is held as part of the ACTIS programme – a project part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund\, click here to be re-directed to further information about the project. This event is classed as State Aid to participating businesses\, the value of which is £190\, but is delivered completely free of charge to participants. \nPlease note: whilst this event is held as part of the ACTIS programme\, attendance is not restricted to companies in the South East Midlands and is open to all. \nDURATION: 1.5 hours \nSpeaker Profiles:  \n\nGaynor Henry-Edwards\, Research Manager\, Faculty of Wellbeing\, Education and Language Studies – The Open University\nGaynor manages the Health and Wellbeing Strategic Research Area at The Open University. The Strategic Research Area supports\, coordinates and promotes health and wellbeing research across the university. Open University researchers conduct research in health and wellbeing across various disciplines and areas including healthcare management\, ageing studies\, reproductive and sexual rights\, assistive technologies\, patient data management\, mental health and biological health sciences. The scope of University expertise ranges from the science underpinning health and disease through to the medical humanities. The Open University is committed to working towards social justice specialising in participative and inclusive research methods with marginalised and vulnerable communities. \n\nProfessor Dr Fridolin Wild\, Professor at the Institute of Educational Technology\, The Open University\nIn addition to his role at The Open University\, Fridolin is also leading the Performance Augmentation Lab (PAL). Fridolin seeks to close the dissociative gap between abstract knowledge and its practical application\, researching radically new forms of linking directly from knowing something ‘in principle’ to applying that knowledge ‘in practice’ and speeding its refinement and integration into polished performance.\nFridolin leads the Special Interest Group on Wearable-Enhanced Learning (SIG WELL) of the European Association of Technology Enhanced Learning (EATEL). He chairs the working group on Augmented Reality Learning Experience Models (ARLEM) of the IEEE Standards Association as well as the Natural Language Processing task view of the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN). He is convenor of a key standards working group\, WG 11\, for future-proofing AR/VR in a joint technical committee of the International Standards Organisation (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)\, part of the sub chapter for computer graphics\, image processing\, and environmental data representation (SC24)\nFrom 2015 to 2020\, Fridolin was Senior Research Fellow at Oxford Brookes University. From 2009 to 2016\, he was at the Knowledge Media Institute of the OU. Fridolin also worked as a researcher at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in Austria from 2004 to 2009. He studied at the University of Regensburg\, Germany\, with extra-murals at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the University of Hildesheim. \n\nJames Fry\, Partner – Head of Life Sciences\, Mills & Reeve LLP\nJames heads the firm’s fast growing\, multi-disciplinary life sciences practice and focuses exclusively on this sector. The practice supports clients in the pharma and biotech\, medical device\, diagnostic\, medtech and digital health sub-sectors. James’ own practice focuses on intellectual property\, commercial contracting and regulatory work.
