It aims to unite universities\, hospitals\, industry and government-funded ‘catapults’ for manufacturing innovation\, helping companies to navigate ‘pinch points’ in the commercialisation process. \nThe purpose of this dynamic programme is to create a cluster of commercial activity\, helping drive economic growth and enhance resilience. They will also ensure that local patients will benefit first from new medical technologies targeted at reducing healthcare inequalities in the region. \nSpeakers \n \nDr Ben Roberts\, Innovation Adviser and Sustainability Champion\, Medilink Midlands \nBen is an Innovation Adviser based in the West Midlands\, specialising in Medtech and Healthtech. Armed with a PhD in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research\, he possesses a strong scientific foundation and a keen understanding of the industry. With one year of experience at Medilink Midlands\, Ben has honed his expertise in driving innovation in healthcare. He is passionate about leveraging technology to enhance patient care while also promoting sustainability in the Medtech and Healthtech sectors. \n\nDerek Sear\, Business Engagement Manager\, University of Birmingham\nAs Business Engagement Manager for the WMHTIA\, Derek fosters relationships between the programme consortium and pioneering Health Tech businesses – helping boost innovation across the region.  Having previously led the University of Birmingham’s DemandHub project\, he has a wealth of experience supporting SMEs in navigating the complexities of the sector and bringing new technologies to the market. \n
