SUMMARY:IN PERSON: Regulatory Innovation in the Life Sciences
DESCRIPTION:This event\, organised by and taking place at Charnwood Campus as part of Leicester Business Festival\, brings together expert speakers to explore how regulatory innovation in the life sciences is crucial to driving growth and expansion across the region. \nBefore any new medical product can be made available to patients\, it needs to demonstrate that it complies with the requirements set out by the relevant regulatory bodies in the territories where the product will be made available. The purpose of these requirements is to ensure\, as far as is possible\, that a product is safe to use and that it performs in the manner the manufacturer says it does. \nMeeting the requirements of the regulators is a significant undertaking and as a result dictates much of the downstream development process for healthcare technologies. The novel nature of research means that there will not always be a clearly defined regulatory pathway for novel technologies. By considering potential pathways and engaging with regulators early you can identify how your technology might fit with existing pathways and if it doesn’t fit\, it will enable you to work with the regulators to develop an appropriate pathway. Furthermore\, the external landscape Brexit and forthcoming changes in regulation\, also have additive implications developing new products. \nSo how do you go about getting the right advice and from who? We’ve got a diverse array of regulatory experts coming along to share their knowledge and be questioned by the audience with burning issues to solve. \nCLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR PLACE\nBy attending our event\, you will: \n\nUnderstand about forthcoming changes in the regulatory environment\nHear from regulatory experts in both Pharma and Medtech\nDiscover what support the region offers\nLearn from companies who have worked innovatively with the regulators to accelerate new product development\nEngage in a panel debate on ways to improve your regulatory approach\nNetwork with likeminded businesses\n\nWe recommend this event for CEO’s\, Directors\, Managers\, and Leaders of: \n\nInnovation\nMarketing\nR & D\nProduct Development\nBusiness Development/New Business Development\n\nConfirmed Speakers \n\nKeynote NICE developments and direction of travel\, Peter Barry\, Consultant Clinical Advisor for NICE and chair of the guideline committee\nIsabel Teare\, Senior legal adviser\, Life Sciences\, Technology\, Healthtech\, Mills & Reeve and Event Chair\nNeil Ebenezer\, Medtech and Genomics Specialist\, Department for International Trade\nVishal Thakker\, Head of UK Approved Body and Senior Regulatory Lead BSI\nTim Bubb\, Technical Director\, IMed Consultancy\nTina Amini\, TA Medtech & Combination Products Consulting\nJonathan Ripley\, Consulting Services Director\, IMed Consultancy\nBryan Lister\, Health Technology & Regulatory Consultant – Medical Devices\, InViva Healthcare Management\n\nConfirmed Exhibitors \n\nBlum Health\nBSI\nClaric Legal Services\nClear Insurance Management\nDepartment of Business and Trade\nGuardtech Group\nIMed Consultancy\nInnovate Edge\nInventya\nInViva Healthcare Management\nLoughborough College\nMedilink Midlands\nNottingham Trent University\nPHC Europe BV\nSmallfry\nSMC\nTBAT\nWeiss Technik\n\nLife Sciences Round table 7th Nov Charnwood Campus \nBooking is now open for our round table “Why is life sciences flourishing in the region\, and what is required to accelerate the sector” \nThis event will take place at 2pm after the Regulatory Event. SUMMARY:IN-PERSON EVENT: AI4SE@STAF 2023
DESCRIPTION:Software Technologies: Applications and Foundations (STAF) is a federation of leading conferences on software technologies. It was formed after the end of the successful TOOLS federated event in 2012\, providing a loose umbrella organisation with a steering committee that aims to provide continuity. \nThe STAF federated event runs annually. The conferences that participate may vary from year to year\, but all focus on practical and foundational advances in software technology. The conferences address all aspects of software technology\, from object-oriented design\, testing\, mathematical approaches to modelling and verification\, transformation\, model-driven engineering\, aspect-oriented techniques\, and tools. \nMuch of today’s business runs on software\, depends on IT systems and data to perform their daily operations\, innovate\, and grow. For many companies\, the lack of software products that meet their specific needs is a major obstacle to their development. \nSoftware Engineering (SE) as a discipline aims at making software development an efficient\, reliable\, and predictable engineering process. AI is increasingly part of SEs ever-growing toolbox as both a solution component in the systems developed and to support the development process itself. \nModel-based low- or no-code methods based on domain-specific languages have gained popularity in recent years by taking a more business-oriented approach\, hiding technical complexity\, making software development more productive and less error prone. They are natural companions to AI which is often intrinsically model-based or can work more effectively at model level. \nThe workshop will bring together a community of solution experts from business and academia with experts in the problem domains to exchange pose questions exchange ideas. Hosted as part of the STAF multiconference\, workshop participants will be able to attend STAF events on the same day\, including conference and workshop keynotes\, to network and develop new collaborations\, business and research opportunities across a range of topics represented by the individual events. \nCLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR PLACE TODAY\nThe aim of this workshop is to explore and present the challenges and solutions businesses encounter in the application of AI in software engineering. We are especially interested in \n\nmodel-based\, low- or no-code methods\, and domain-specific languages\nsoftware engineer tools for developing or supported by AI solutions\nAI for code generation\, debugging\, testing\, documentation\, and error correction\ndesign and process optimisation and prediction based on AI\, e.g.\, in digital twins\napplications of AI and model-based methods in application domains such as manufacturing\, health\, transport\, energy\, etc.\n\nCompanies and researchers are invited to submit extended abstracts of up to two pages relevant to the workshop’s topics and their application in industry. Abstracts could describe or suggest solutions or pose open challenges. Selected contributions will be presented at the workshop in plenary and discussion sessions. \nPlease click here to check the agenda of the day
