Currently with over 20 years NHS experience\, as a nurse across Malignant Haematology\, High Dependency and Coronary Care\, Research Nurse\, Manager of a Cancer Research Team and then Senior Manager within Research Governance. Dan led on Industry for Trent CLRN since 2011 prior to this post.\nAs part of the CRNEM leadership team this current role focuses on the development of the commercial research portfolio across all stages of the study lifecycle. This involves a particular focus on recruitment of trials to targets and growth of the sector\, working along with SMEs and Medical Technology. \n\nTheo Christie\, Business Development Manager (Commercial)\, CRN National Coordinating Centre\nTheo facilitates key discussions between the life sciences industry and the Clinical Research Network and is a point of contact for the life sciences companies engaging with the Clinical Research Network. Theo is able to provide advice to companies on how they are able to tap into the Clinical Research Network study support services to ensure clinical studies are set up efficiently and recruit to time and target.\nWith a degree in Clinical Sciences\, Theo has been with the Clinical Research Network since 2013. Before joining the Business Development and Marketing Team\, Theo previously worked within the organisation’s Research Delivery Directorate where he was responsible for supporting interactions between the life sciences industry across 10 therapeutic areas\, providing operational support through feasibility\, set up and patient recruitment. \n\nRoz Sorrie-Rae\, Lead Research Management & Governance Manager\, Leicestershire\, Northamptonshire & Rutland Comprehensive Local Research Network\nRoz has worked in the NHS for over 28 years in the fields of clinical audit and effectiveness\, clinical governance and research. She joined her current role in 2008 and continued in that role when CRN East Midlands was established. From late 2014\, she spent a year in Nova Scotia\, Canada\, and gained an international perspective on health research\, having spent her time abroad working in R&D in the Canadian university sector. On her return to the UK\, she commenced in the role of HRA Approval Business Lead with the National CRN Coordinating Centre. Alongside this national role\, she returned to CRN East Midlands in a senior Research Management & Governance Manager capacity. In November 2016\, she took up the role of CRN East Midlands Study Support Service Operations Manager and has in 2020 moved into a Study Support Service Compliance and Assurance Manager role. During her career\, Roz has co-authored numerous papers and publications\, both as a researcher and subject matter expert\, including a chapter on Budget and Funding in An Introduction to Health Services Research (2014; Sage).

Through promoting his work and research activities he now works with a number of surgeons and clinicians across Europe. \n \nDr Louise Thomson\, Assistant Professor in Occupational Psychology and Practitioner Psychologist\, The University of Nottingham\nLouise is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and HCPC-registered Occupational Psychologist specialising in psychological\, social and organisational issues in occupational health and job retention. She is currently the Course Director for the MSc in Occupational Psychology at the University of Nottingham\, and Lead Academic for the Institute of Mental Health’s Research Support and Consultancy Service. Louise has extensive experience of working in the health and social care sector\, but has also worked with other public and private sector clients\, as well as the third sector. She has been an expert member of three NICE committees developing guidance on: return-to-work after long-term sickness absence; mental well-being at work; and workplace health quality standards. She currently leads the Well-being of the Workforce Study which is exploring the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health and well-being of the UK workforce. \n\nDr Michael Craven\, Senior Research Fellow\, The University of Nottingham\, Institute of Mental Health\nMike is an academic researcher in the NIHR MindTech MedTech Co-operative\, a national centre established in 2013 to focus on developing the evidence and methods needed to bring new technologies for mental health into the National Health Service. He is also a member of University of Nottingham Faculty of Engineering’s Bioengineering research group and the Institute of Mental Health’s Centre for Dementia\, holds an honorary contract with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and is Health Economist in the Nottingham University Hospitals’ Centre for Healthcare Equipment and Technology Adoption (CHEATA). In MindTech\, Mike contributes expertise in design and evaluation of digital health and medical device related interventions and assistive technologies. He has conducted health technology assessments and reviews for NHS organisations and industry and contributes to policy on digital mental health. Currently\, he is co-investigator on several of MindTech’s large collaborations and trials of technologies which include evaluation of cognitive training software\, remote/mobile mental health and virtual reality therapy\, and various co-design projects with patients and healthcare professionals. \n\nBill Byrom\, Vice President of Product Strategy and Innovation\, Signant Health\nBill leads product strategy and innovation\, and the electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO) Science team\, at Signant Health. He has worked in the Pharmaceutical industry for over 25 years and is the author of over 70 publications and two industry textbooks on ePRO. His recent scientific work includes the use of wearable technology and ePRO in clinical trials. Bill is an active member of the Critical Path Institute’s ePRO Consortium\, is a member of the scientific leadership board of the Digital Medicine Society\, and leads a cross-industry working group on wearable technology within the Drug Information Association’s Study Endpoints Community. This event is classed as State Aid to participating businesses\, the value of which is £127\, but is delivered completely free of charge to participants. \nSpeaker Profiles \n\nSteve Simbler MRPharm.S\, Head of Sports Division\, Synergy Biologics \nSteve has been working as a pharmacist in elite sport for over 20 years\, initially in a supply capacity\, and for the past 10 years in providing medicines management consultancy and software to teams in the Premier League and English Football League as well as national governing bodies for football\, rugby\, athletics\, tennis\, cricket\, rowing\, and cycling amongst others.\nHe was one of the lead pharmacists for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics\, then again for the London 2017 Athletics and Para-Athletics World Championships.\nAs well as giving talks about vitamin D\, he lectures on various topics pertaining to drugs in sport and the use of analgesics and anti-inflammatories in sport.\nIn 2006\, sport doctors approached Steve to advise on obtaining a reliable source of vitamin D that could pass tests for WADA-prohibited substances\, this prompted an association with Synergy Biologics\, makers of Pro D3\, and this relationship is ongoing\, and stimulated an interest in vitamin D on which he keeps abreast of research\, and reads extensively.\nSince 2016 Steve has been a pharmacist panel member for the General Pharmaceutical Council’s Fitness to Practise Committee\, and has recently started as an NHS Test and Trace clinical contact tracer on a part time basis. \n\nJanet Worrell\, Head of Regulatory\, JensonR+\nJanet is an experienced regulatory affairs professional\, having supported a diverse portfolio of products\, for a number of companies across the East Midlands. Janet’s experience covers early concept development\, food supplements\, over the counter (OTC) medicines\, inhaled therapies and clinical trial applications. Janet enjoys collaborating with companies to develop their regulatory strategy to deliver commercial success.
