SUMMARY:IN-PERSON EVENT: UK House - Data Driven Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:The UK House programme is designed to deliver high-level sectoral business events showcasing UK capability and innovation\, and to facilitate business connectivity between UK enterprises and both international buyers and investors. On Monday 1 August\, the UK House programme will focus on “Data Driven Healthcare”. This will be followed on Tuesday 2 August with a West Midlands Sector Showcase event. \nForward-thinking and people-focused. Our healthcare system is the jewel in the UK’s crown. The West Midlands itself is no exception\, hosting eight hospitals combined with over thirty-five regional centres of clinical research\, with one in five of all UK trials carried out in the region. \nThe region’s Data-Driven Healthcare proposition is built upon four distinct pillars of opportunity: digital\, data\, diagnostics and devices. With unparalleled access to electronic clinical and genomic data\, we have the capabilities to test and implement new healthcare interventions\, unlike any other region. \nOur unparalleled manufacturing expertise and tech capabilities enable firms to prototype\, test and commercialise within the region – bench to bedside. \nThe five leading universities produce over 11\,000 graduates in medical sciences each year and a further 6\,000 graduates in the engineering and computing fields. DESCRIPTION:The BBSRC are offering two informative webinars to coincide with the Phase 2 launch of the BBSRC/DEFRA Endemic Livestock Diseases. These sessions offer the chance for those interested in applying for the funding to learn more about the opportunity and to pose their questions to those allocating the funds. \nBook your place today\nBBSRC/DEFRA Endemic Livestock Diseases Programme  \nThe Endemic Livestock Diseases Initiative aims to meaningfully reduce the overall level and impact of endemic disease on the UK livestock sector\, to improve productivity and the health and welfare of animals. The initiative will bring academia and businesses together to co-create novel prevention and intervention solutions. \nAll projects must include at least one business project partner. The full economic cost of your project can be up to £1\,000\,000 over 3 years. BBSRC will fund 80% of the full economic cost. The business project partner must contribute at least 10% cash (or in-kind) of the full economic cost of the project. \nProject collaborators are crucial participants in the proposals. They may encompass a wide range of stakeholders\, including: \n\nfarmers\nbusinesses\ninnovators\nveterinary practitioners\ndata management service providers\n\nBusinesses must be UK-based or have UK-based research activity. \nProjects should address the themes below.
