Avgo Biotech’s CEO, Andrew Stacey, won the 8th annual pitch event – “Taming the Dragons”, run by the Lincolnshire Investment Network.

The event moved away from its traditional format, being held virtually, this year.  Pitches showed the diversity of entrepreneurial companies in Lincolnshire, with pitches from; Felicity Francis talking about her ideas about making networking more accessible and cost-effective, Gorka Tell discussing Craft Resin’s ideas about expanding their resin supply business, Emma Forrest-Leigh presenting her plans to combine the use of resins and healthy eating and Andrew Stacey telling the audience about using eggshells from the egg-processing industry to make pharmaceutical ingredients. Last years winner, Will De Ath rounded off the evening discussing his journey over the past 12 months.

Avgo Biotech is a Lincolnshire based company converting eggshells, into pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, meeting the needs of the circular economy. Over the past 12 months, they have been working with Chemical Engineer, Mike Keast and Business Coach, Ian Baker to develop and consolidate both their patentable technology and business position. On the back of which they have been awarded a £100,000 grant from @InnovateUK, under their “Sustainable Innovation Fund 3” to protect and prove this technology on an industrial scale and gain further commitment from their customers in the Pharmaceutical industry. The company is now seeking additional funding to move forward and to bring the full potential of its innovative process to their customers.

The “Taming the Dragons” event was sponsored by Lincolnshire Growth Hub, Streets Chartered Accountants and NatWest Bank.
