Nottingham based contract research organisation (CRO) Cellomatics Biosciences has reported year-on-year organic revenue growth of 30 percent since its inception in 2015, as demand for its bespoke preclinical and early discovery phase laboratory services and expertise continues to soar.

Based at BioCity Nottingham, Cellomatics is a specialist preclinical CRO with expertise in five main therapeutic areas: oncology, immuno-oncology, immunology, inflammation and respiratory. Through providing niche services and a flexible, consultative approach, Cellomatics has positioned itself as the CRO of choice for its growing global client base seeking expert support with the development of bespoke bioassays.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Cellomatics has maintained its upward growth trajectory and has now undertaken a full rebrand as it embarks on the next phase of its development.

Shailendra Singh, CEO of Cellomatics, says: “Cellomatics has continuously moved from strength to strength since our inception almost six years ago. We’re proud to have successfully completed over 160 projects in collaboration with approximately 60 clients in the last five years, with between 10 and 15 new clients secured each year, and over 45% of our clients placing repeat business. This has translated in a strong revenue growth from an expanding international and diversified customer base.

“Our growth can also be attributed to the dedication of our passionate team of scientists, which has increased from 2 to 12 since the company was formed and possesses the perfect blend of technical skill and extensive experience. The team has a shared focus, vision and ambition to constantly improve and deliver quality results to our growing network of clients, who trust us to meet their individual requirements.”

The success of Cellomatics has been officially recognised, with the company being awarded the Regional Winner in this year’s Barclays Entrepreneur Awards 2021. Shailendra Singh has also been shortlisted for the Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year category in the 2021 Great British Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for the Midlands region. Both attribute Cellomatics’ growth to its proactive approach in identifying market trends and preparing to meet demands, as Shailendra explains: “The EU CRO market has been estimated to grow to $1.4 billion by 2026, with a CAGR of 8.11%. With pharmaceutical companies increasingly relying on the robust infrastructure and clinical expertise of CROs, and as specialty drugs become a larger portion of the market, we anticipate significant growth in the EU market, especially in the immuno-oncology and immunology spaces that we specialise in.”

“Over the next twelve months, Cellomatics will focus on supporting the growth of a healthy pipeline of business opportunities and continue building our loyal and growing client base,” Singh adds. “We are also investing in the development and implementation of a robust marketing strategy.

“Part of that marketing strategy includes undertaking a full rebrand, which has included an extensive vision and values exercise involving the team as well as insights from customers. This led to the refreshed brand image and the launch of a new website.”
